Revolutionising Hospital Wi-Fi with 100% Coverage and Optimised Asset Tracking
Objective
A large hospital required comprehensive wireless coverage, asset tracking, and a high-performing Wi-Fi network. They aimed to upgrade their wireless infrastructure by deploying new Access Points that would integrate with their existing asset tracking system and improve Wi-Fi performance for staff. The hospital’s current wireless setup was outdated, necessitating a complete overhaul. Akomplished Wi-Fi Solutions was engaged to design a new Access Point placement using the latest models.
Approach
Customer Requirements:
We began by consulting with the hospital to gain a full understanding of their requirements and the specifications of their new Access Point models.
Site Visit:
An initial site visit was conducted to verify the hospital’s floorplans and assess the wireless environment. Using Ekahau survey tools (Sidekick II and an iPad), we carried out a coverage check and identified issues, including rogue Access Points and interference across the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands.
Data Analysis:
An in-depth analysis of the Ekahau data was performed, revealing significant interference and a high number of rogue devices. These insights helped guide the new Access Point placement design and shaped additional recommendations for system configuration.
Design:
Using Ekahau AI Pro, we incorporated all relevant data into the project, including scaling, obstructions, and walls for each building and area. Simulated Access Points were then placed within the model to create an optimal Wi-Fi network design for the hospital.
Report:
We provided a detailed report outlining recommended Access Point locations, simulated heatmaps, and additional suggestions to enhance the performance of the wireless network.

Customer Feedback
After the new wireless system was deployed, we conducted an on-site discussion with the hospital team to ensure the network was performing as expected. Only one issue was reported, which was a specific device type was unable to connect.
Live Spectrum Analysis
We performed a live spectrum analysis to investigate the device connection issue. It was discovered that the Access Points were configured with an incompatible channel for this particular device. After a configuration change, the device was able to connect successfully.
Confirmation Coverage Check
Once all reported issues were resolved, a final coverage check was conducted across the hospital using Ekahau to confirm full network coverage.
Final Analysis
A thorough analysis of the confirmation results verified that the hospital had complete wireless coverage and that the system was performing optimally. No further adjustments were required.

We delivered a comprehensive confirmation report, including results and heatmaps of the newly implemented Access Points.
